Every year I cover the BC student safety video contest – and now here’s a post on the national level contest between winning videos from each province, including ours in BC.
A “Fan Favourite” prize goes to the video that wins the most votes from Canadian residents. Voting will take place Saturday, April 23 to Friday April 29, 2016.
The national winner for 2015 is Rewind by Brycen Roy from Trenton High School in Ontario. Oh, if only the world worked like it does in this video! When our actions have a bad outcome, we hit Rewind and do them again differently, like Ctrl+Z. But, as it is, we can consider consequences and make safer choices.
The 2016 BC competition is already underway and the theme is “impairment at work affects everyone.”
“Have you ever pulled an all-nighter and dragged yourself to work anyway? Or maybe you’ve worked with a colleague whom you suspect had been drinking before his shift,” reads the contest page. “Fatigue, alcohol, and drugs are all forms of impairment that can affect your ability to work safely, which can put you and those around you at risk of injury.”
Viewers vote on their favourite videos, so contestants are encouraged to put their videos online ASAP. Deadline for submissions is 5 pm on Friday, April 1, 2016.
