A new online course on starting a joint occupational health and safety committee is available for people starting new committees. The free tool is also a good refresher for current committee members who want to re-focus their energies.
I read about the online course in the Jan/Feb issue of WorkSafe Magazine. It’s created by the University of BC, the Global Health Research Project, the BC Government Employees Union, and the BC Public Service Agency. Their course is based on findings from a research team that reviewed articles on joint OHS committees in Canada and consulted with 25 OHS leaders about what helps and hinders committees.
The Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee Tool includes four modules and more downloads that help a committee get up and running. Give it a try – and let me know how it works for you.
